Hanging out at the NAPT

I decided to play the “media card” and roll on down to the Bicycle Casino to cover the North American Poker Tour for the TPT.  I was pretty jazzed when I saw the list of pro’s that were scheduled to attend, so I figured, why not take a shot at watching some of my favorite tournament pro’s in action.  Day 1a is today, and fielded 330 total players.  Day 1b begins tomorrow, and it will probably have at least as many players based on all the info that I’m getting from most of the players.

Being at the Bike for the NAPT is a surprisingly relaxed atmosphere considering the competitors that are here for a $5,000 buy in event.  So far, on day 1a, the normal PokerStars Pro’s are here with Greg Raymer, Chris Moneymaker, and Jason Mercier all in PokerStars garb.  But there are a number of Full Tilt and Ultimate Bet pro’s in the mix as well (Annette Obrestad, Jeff Madsen, and Scott Clements are wearing FTP Patches, and Eric Baldwin, Adam Levy, and Bryan Devonshire are representing UB).

There are also 3 November Niner’s here playing as Matt Jarvis, Soi Nguyen, and Joseph Cheong are throwing chips around.  And there are the other PokerStars Pro’s as well as Vanessa Selbst and Liv Boeree are playing.  And there are a number of other Pro’s like Antonio Esfandiari, Sorel Mizzi, David “Doc Sands” Sands, and Lauren Kling, who just makes every tournament better.

I’ll be posting updates through twitter (@coolwhipflea) and posting photos on the TPT Site (click here to see the pics).  Feel free to follow along with the coverage.  I’ll get more detailed chip stacks and hand information as the tournament winds down.  But for now, I’m enjoying chatting it up with the pro’s and the media members like Dr. Pauly, Jess Welmann, and Sean Gibson of Poker News Daily.  Should be a great time.
